Gateway Students Applying to Western Sierra Grades 7 and 9 (2020-21)

Currently-Enrolled Gateway Students are expected to continue at Gateway through Grade 8 and transition to Western Sierra at Grade 9.

For a current Gateway student to be considered for enrollment in Grades 7 or 8 at Western Sierra, a new application must be submitted between January 17, 2020 and February 29, 2020 and the Gateway student will be included in the public lottery.  In this case, placement of a Gateway student at Western Sierra is not guaranteed, as admission offers are made on a space-available basis.

Starting January 17, 2020, login to your family's SchoolMint account at: SchoolMint Login.  Select Add/Edit New Student Application to complete/submit your Western Sierra application.
  • If a current Gateway student applies to Western Sierra Grade 7 or 8 and has sibling(s) currently attending Western Sierra (2019-20), applicant will receive a sibling preference in the public lottery.  Sibling preference will be verified prior to lottery.

  • If a current Gateway student applies to Western Sierra for Grades 7 or 8 and does NOT have sibling(s) currently attending Western Sierra (2019-20), applicant will be treated as a "new" applicant with no preference in the public lottery.

  • If a current Gateway student applies to Western Sierra for Grades 7 or 8 and has a sibling attending Gateway Grade 8 (2019-20) who has indicated intent (during the intent period) to attend Western Sierra Grade 9 (2020-21), applicant will receive sibling preference on the Western Sierra waiting list after the continuing student has met all enrollment requirements.  Email with requirements will be sent to continuing families around March 20th.

To protect your student's enrollment at Gateway, indicate student's intent to return to Gateway until an admission offer is received from Western Sierra.  Any vacancy created at Gateway will be filled from the waiting list once the Gateway student accepts the admission offer made by Western Sierra.

STUDENTS LEAVING OUR SCHOOLS (going to other schools) must complete a Student Withdrawal Notification (SWN) and provide completed withdrawal notification to school as soon as possible (before student's last day in attendance).
