Lottery, Offers and Waiting Lists (2020-21)

Public Lottery

  • Due to the ongoing concerns about the Corona Virus (COVID-19) and an attempt to slow the spread of the virus in the community, we will not be holding the lottery at Rocklin Academy Gateway as planned.  Instead, the public lottery will be conducted via Zoom Online.  The lottery webinar will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. PST on March 19, 2020.  Applicants should have received a notification from SchoolMint with the link to join.

  • The lottery ranks applicants who apply during the lottery application period and creates each school's waiting list. Joining the webinar is not mandatory.

  • After the lottery has been completed, parents can login to their family's SchoolMint account to view "Preoffer" or "Waitlisted" status.  On March 20, 2020, after admissions offers are made and the waiting list is publicized, waiting list numbers will be viewable in SchoolMint.

Admission Offers

  • Each year, there are openings in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten (K).  Availability in other grades depends on the number of current students indicating "Not Returning" on their annual student intent to return.

  • It is possible that some applicants will receive admission offers while others will be placed on the school's waiting list.  The waiting list is used in the event an opening occurs before the school year starts or during the school year.

  • Accept or Decline any admission offer within 24 hours of notification in SchoolMint.

    • Accept?  Applicant will then be removed from all other school waiting lists.

    • Receive multiple offers?  Accept ONE offer within 24 hours of notification.  All other offers will be declined once parent/guardian accepts an offer.

    • Decline or fail to decline within 24 hours of notification?  Applicant will then be removed from the offering school's waiting list only.

    • Siblings on the waiting list?  Sibling(s) will be prioritized on the waiting list once the new applicant accepts his/her admission offer.   Sibling preference is based on the school and grade to which the applicant has applied.  See the RAFOS Admission and Enrollment Policy for a list of sibling preferences.

      • Sibling placement on the school's waiting list is based on the applicant's ranking in the public lottery or submission date/time if applicant was not part of the lottery.

      • Placement of siblings at the same time is not guaranteed, as placement is on a space-available basis.

Waiting Lists

  • Applicants who do not receive admission offers due to capacity limits will be placed on the school's waiting list according to their ranking in the public lottery, or date/time of application if applicant was not part of the lottery.

  • Each school's waiting list makes it possible for applicants to receive admission offers before the school year starts or during the school year.

  • In no circumstance will a school's waiting list carry forward to the next academic school year.

  • To be considered for enrollment, a new application must be submitted during the next school year's lottery application period.
