Admissions Process

 

School Availability
Availability at each school depends on the number of current students indicating their intent to return for the next school year.  It is possible that some grades may not have availability.  
 
Current Year's Waiting List
If your child is currently on the 2018-19 waiting list, parent/guardian must submit a NEW 2019-20 application to be part of the 2019-20 lottery, as waiting lists will NOT roll forward.
 
Already have a SchoolMint Account?
Once the lottery application period is open, login at:     Account Login
  • Enter your family's username/password.  Forgotten username/password?--reset it from the home page.
  • Remember your password, as the school does not maintain this information.
  • Parent/guardian will receive a confirmation for each application submitted.

2019-20 Lottery Application Period
Opens:     7:00 a.m. on January 18, 2019
Closes: 11:00 p.m. on February 28, 2019
 

Applications submitted after the lottery application deadline will not be part of the lottery; instead, the applicant will be added to the school’s waiting list based on the application submission date/time, after all applicants ranked in the 2019-20 lottery.  The last day to submit an application to be added to the waiting list is October 31, 2019.

 
Proof of Legal Age & Proof of Residency
Proof of applicant's legal age and residency is not required with student's application.  If applicant receives an admission offer, parent/guardian must upload a copy of applicant's Legal Birth Certificate and Proof of Residency as part of student's enrollment packet.  Proof of residency (PG&E bill preferred) must be recent (within past 30 days), and include the name and physical residence address of the parent/guardian with whom the applicant lives.
 
If parent/guardian indicates on the application that applicant resides within the school's district attendance boundaries but cannot provide verification at time of enrollment, the admission offer will be withdrawn.
 
 
Turnstone and Meyers Students Who Will Complete Grade 6 and
Gateway Students Who Will Complete Grade 8 Continuing to Western Sierra
Students continuing to Western Sierra from Meyers and Turnstone Grade 6 and from Gateway Grade 8 must submit a Western Sierra application by February 28, 2019 and will be included in the lottery.  These students must complete an enrollment packet and will be placed first at Western Sierra.
 
If an application is submitted after the lottery deadline, a continuing student can still submit an application;  however, applicant will not be considered a "continuing student" until after the first round of admission offers have gone out.  In this case, enrollment at Western Sierra is on a space-available basis. 
 
 
Students Who Will Complete Grades 6 or 7 at Gateway Who Want to Transfer
to Western Sierra
Students attending Gateway are expected to remain at Gateway through Grade 8 and transition to Western Sierra at Grade 9.   Any student attending Gateway wanting to move to Western Sierra must submit a Western Sierra application by February 28, 2019 and will be included in the lottery.   If the Gateway student has a sibling attending Western Sierra, he/she will receive a sibling preference in the lottery; all sibling preferences will be confirmed.  Placement of a Gateway student at Western Sierra is not guaranteed, as offers will be made on a space available basis.  It is good practice to indicate your student's intent to return to Gateway until such time an offer is received from Western Sierra.

Visit our Parent Kiosk, located in the lobby at 660 Menlo Drive, Rocklin.  The kiosk is available during the hours indicated, but will be closed on school holidays, weekends and during all school breaks.

What Happens Next?

 

Public Lottery 
A public lottery will take place in mid-March.  The lottery will be held to rank applicants and create the order of the 2019-20 waiting list.  Parents/guardians are welcome to attend.   Once all applications have been validated, the lottery date/time/location notification will be sent to all applicants.
 
Admission Offers

Once the lottery has taken place and admission offers are made public, view applicant's status from your family's SchoolMint account.  Remember that offers can be made before the school year begins AND after the school year has already started. 

  • Parent/guardian must ACCEPT or DECLINE admission offer in SchoolMint within 24 hours of notification or offer will be declined and made to the next applicant on the school's waiting list.

  • Applicant will then be removed from all other school waiting lists.

  • If applicant receives multiple offers, accept only one offer within the 24-hour period.  Student will be removed from all other school waiting lists.

  • Any confirmed siblings will be prioritized on the waiting list at time of applicant's acceptance.  Enrollment of any siblings is on a space available basis and is not guaranteed.

 
Decline an Admission Offer or Fail to Decline within 24 hours?
  • Applicant will be removed from the offering school's waiting list only and the admission offer will be made to the next applicant on the school's waiting list.
 
 
Enrollment Packets
  • Once offer has been accepted, parent/guardian must click REGISTER and complete/submit student's enrollment packet within five (5) calendar days.

  • If admission offer is being accepted after the school year has started, the enrollment packet must be completed/submitted within 48 hours of acceptance.

  • All required fields must be completed to submit your student's packet.

  • All uploads must be in pdf format; if document contains two (2) or more pages, save all pages as one pdf file, then upload/submit.

  • Submit all enrollment packet forms including :

  • Immunizations - upload the most current immunization record and make a doctor's appointment to complete this requirement.  Any new student entering a public school is required to upload proof of all required immunizations (not be overdue for doses) before he/she can start school.

  • Report of Health Exam for School Entry (RHE) - This applies to students entering TK, Kindergarten and First Grade (if requirement was not met prior to entering TK or Kindergarten).  If RHE is not yet complete, upload a blank piece of paper indicating when physical exam will occur.  Remember to take form included in enrollment packet to your student's doctor to complete and sign.  Return to SchoolMint to upload and RESUBMIT.

  • Oral Health Assessment (OHA) - This applies to students entering TK, Kindergarten or any student who is new to public school.  If OHA is not yet complete, upload a blank piece of paper indicating when dental exam will occur.   Remember to take form included in enrollment packet to your dentist to complete and sign.  Return to SchoolMint to upload and RESUBMIT.

  • Student's enrollment packet will be reviewed and status will be returned to "Registration in Progress" if packet is incomplete.  Packet must remain "Registration in Progress" until all items have been uploaded and resubmitted.  Student's enrollment is considered complete when parent/guardian receives verification of enrollment notification.

 
Parent Orientation - Turnstone, Meyers and Gateway
Parent orientation meeting is designed for parents of new students entering our schools.  Information regarding this orientation meeting will be communicated to all new families in April.  Please make childcare arrangements as this orientation meeting is for parents/guardians only.   If your student accepts admission after the orientation date, please contact:

Parent/Student Orientation - Gateway (6-8)
